Welcome speech by Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation B.V. Gryzlov
26 july 2010
The Pure Water International Forum in Moscow becomes a heart-warming tradition.
For the second time the event will bring together representatives of the state and business community, researchers, experts, and water industry professionals to find approaches to water pollution prevention, and water management issues.
These issues are topical not only for Russia. In July 2010, the global nature and importance of the pure water issue were recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in the human right to water and sanitation resolution.
It is highly important that Russia will host the Forum; the fact proves the readiness and the ability of our country to take active part in solving the issues in close cooperation with the international community.
I would like to wish the Forum members a fruitful and helpful discussion!

Pure water is not just the name of our Forum. First of all, it means responsibility of the state, business community, and scientists for the important issue of water resource conservation.
Due to the natural reasons, the largest fresh water deposits are located in Russia. Our main task is natural resource augmentation and conservation, rational use of the invaluable natural gift. To this end, joint efforts are required, both at the state and individual level including the whole range of measures from environmentally friendly industry to development of water friendliness, starting from the school age.
I am sure that the Forum will become an important international event, and provide constructive and business-oriented atmosphere, while the fruitful dialog on wide variety of issues will result in reasonable decisions complying with the current trends and aimed at saving of water being the valuable resource of our planet.
